FINCA is not-for-profit microfinance organization. For the past 25 years, FINCA has sought to break the cycle of poverty in the world’s most desperate communities by providing small loans, savings programs, insurance protection and other financial services to the working poor. By providing financial services to the world’s lowest-income entrepreneurs in 21 countries across Africa, Eurasia, the Greater Middle East and Latin America, FINCA products and services enable clients to create jobs, build assets and improve their standard of living.

What is Microfinance?

In the most fundamental terms, microfinance is the brilliantly simple idea that small loans and other financial services, made available to individuals at the local level, can add up to big changes, globally, for billions of people.

For most poor people in the developing world, access to traditional financial services is simply not an option. Microfinance organizations, like FINCA, make small loans available to these hardworking individuals so the can begin, or expand, small businesses, and seek to improve their families’ quality of life. A steady income can allow a family to eat more often and add more nutritious foods to their diet; make improvements to their home; access healthcare services when needed; and, most important, keep children in school, an almost certain guarantee of a future lived outside of extreme poverty.

In addition, as these small businesses grow, they often create jobs for other family members and neighbors, fostering community-wide economic vitality, and helping boost developing economies worldwide.
